The Dentist

So today I had an appointment with Bro's dentist's associate to look at my broken tooth. (See immediate previous post.) Nice fellow with a Ph.D. in dentistry. He practices four days a week and teaches one class at the university. 

But about the tooth... turns out that it was a not so nice crack. Big piece of #11, the bicuspid on top left right behind the "eye" tooth. He x-rayed it, then numbed it real good and pulled the loose side off so at least now it isn't cutting into my gum with the sharp edge. If I were going to be here longer he would have capped it, but I leave on Sunday and with the holiday there is no time for that. 

The good news was that the crack didn't expose the pulp in the center of the tooth. That meant that he could just leave the tooth as it was when he took the piece off without filling so it is ready to be worked on when I get home. I have an appointment for Monday morning to evaluate where we are and what to do next. Too bad the nice fellow here in Portland is so far. I had a thought about charging COSTCO for travel back and forth so I could get it fixed here. 

Haven't heard from COSTCO yet. If  don't hear by Wednesday, I think I may give them a call. Today's trip was nearly $200 and we have just started, so I really want to know who pays and how and when.
