Mythbusters @ NSTA Portland

So a couple months back I was looking at the NSTA schedule of fall area conferences and saw that there was one in Portland, OR, where my bro lives. Okay, so that was interesting, but then I saw that the Mythbusters were featured speakers. OMG, the Mythbusters, my rock stars!

So then I looked at the calendar and realized that it was the weekend before Thanksgiving break. UCM has whole week off, so no classes to interfere with a trip to Portland, so I checked to see if I could use travel money for the trip. Yep.

So here I am in Portland again. I was here in September for nephew Dave's wedding down at Sisters, OR, and here I am back again for 10 days---three for the conference and then I'm staying for T'giving.

Today was the first day of the NSTA conference and Jaime and Adam were AWESOME!!! They sat on the stage on stools and just answered questions. But, oh, how they answered questions. They told stories of things they liked best, stories they wouldn't do, and things we would
never see on TV. They ended with film of things we hadn't seen on TV which ended with pictures of explosions set to Tchaikovsky's  1812 Overture. The best is the take off of the exploding water heater that takes 15 seconds to return to ground.

The science teachers gave them a standing ovation when they arrived and when they finished. It was truly awesome.
